Christian LEADERSHIP 1 – Pst. Ife ADETONA

    Mandate Month
    December is our mandate night!
so, our Bible Study shall focus on LEADERSHIP.
The mandate of leadership is for us to fulfil our Destiny!
So, we shall be discussing CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP
Eternal Lord, we worship your name! We give you praise for always stocking us with His word of life.

    1.Early exposure to supervision

We look unto you tonight for a great filling in Jesus’ Name
    Let us pray
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2

every believer is handed the baton of leadership!
Mummy was showing the post of one of our leaders who said SADOZ was the first place she stood before people to speak
Christianity is a great point for leadership.

It is a great training point for leadership roles in society.
History and even what is happening in our contemporary days have shown us that Christian ministries at large have allowed so many to experiment with their leadership ability by giving them roles to play.
In the children’s department of the church, for instance, we have a choir leader who is a child.
And ever since, her life has changed!
As a believer grows, there are several units where he can serve.
There you will also find a Sunday school teacher who is likely a teenager.
They are consciously being trained for leadership every time they prepare for their anniversary.
After leaving the NCCF, he returns to the adult church.
A child who grows up in a children’s church will be transferred to the teenager’s church or department and from there to the youth church and from there to the campus fellowship and then to the National Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF).
Many are also exposed to Christian leadership in interdenominational ministries like SADOZ.
All through those stages, he comes across opportunities to serve as a leader.
All these help to reveal and develop the leadership capacity in man.
Many wouldn’t have gotten any leadership exposure early in life if not for churches and Christian ministries.
Many people like me had their first leadership experience in Christianity.
And before you can get a job where you will demonstrate your leadership potential, you must have grown into your early adulthood.
Community and political leadership are so skewed that believers shy away from them.
Christian ministries bridge this gap and present an unending leadership adventure for as many as desire it.
It was required, according to the law of the Old Testament, that Levites should be initiated into leadership from the age of 20.
As we see in the examples of the Levites,
Early exposure to leadership was part of the basic and foundational vision of Christianity.

    2.Selflessness

These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by na number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward. 1 Chronicle 23:24

Christian ministries are seen as non-profit-making organizations.
Another major benefit that Christian leadership gives is that it builds selflessness in men.
It produces a selfless leader, which is the scarcest form of leadership.
Only a few people would work sacrificially in a place where a monetary gift is not attached.
When you work there, you are not expected to be paid. You are required to spend your money and time.
If a man would serve selflessly and sacrificially in a place where he is not being paid, how much would he do where he is being paid?
I remember after I left the campus, I was given a job at a ministry
And we have seen a lot of such men in Christianity.
When I saw the job, I was leaping
I said to myself, it’s as if you asked me to come and do what I used to for free and you will pay me for doing so!
They said they would be paying me
a part for free and a part for the money
I promised myself to work DOUBLE!
He just got the new job
He said: “daddy, is just like Anagkazo and they will be paying us”
A Sadozite told me about his experience at his present place of work.
Calling them to get their orders and delivering it
He is working with a firm and he is into customer relations
He said they had been told that the work was tedious but he was surprised to see that it was nothing.
He said that his boss is amazed at how he works
That is what Christian Leadership does in you
I am convinced that any man who expresses zeal in working for God selflessly would be the best employee in his office and wherever he finds himself.

In the same vein, anyone that fails in Christian service cannot be fit for any other leadership capacity.
Among them, I can accurately predict the ones who would succeed in any role they are assigned and the ones that may fail.
This is a tested and trusted fact.
There are over a thousand young adults who have passed through and are still in the leadership of our ministry.
    Jesus said it:
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much- *Luke 16:10.*
It is not because of anything, in particular, it is simply the law of nature.
Anyone who is not faithful in little things will surely mess up complex things. Jesus said it:
I mentioned earlier that the scarcest form of leadership is selfless leadership.
Anyone who fails the test of selflessness cannot oversee the lives of fellow men

    3. Spiritual Build-up

    Christian leadership helps our spirituality.
Technology, social media influence, modernization, globalization and many more have diverted the attention of man from his spiritual status.
Take it or leave it. Man is first a spiritual being before he becomes a natural being, and it is the spiritual that controls the physical.
Many factors around us today have downplayed the spirituality of man.
A man is a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body, but our educational system emphasizes more on soul-building
and our environment emphasizes body beautification, paying no attention to the spiritual aspect of man.
When a man is right spiritually, everything about him becomes right.
For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. Romans 8:6.

It is only Christian leadership and Christian education that emphasizes the spirituality of man.
Many suicides, depression and hypertension issues that have become prevalent today are because of the refusal to labour on the building up of the spirit of man.
Even great, mighty and wealthy people in the world still commit suicide. Many of them lived on antidepressants.
It is only Christianity that works on building a man’s spirituality, which is why, as a believer; you dare not play down on being involved in Christian leadership.
That is because they have stamina in their body and soul, but they are very weak in their spirit.
A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22.
He is a Christian leader. He remains a Sunday school teacher in his church even when he was a busy surgeon, well sought after all around
The great neurosurgeon Benjamin Solomon Carson emphasized that he is everything he is by the grace of God.
His spirituality aided his success in his career as well as in life.
Quiet time is a disciplined routine. We live in a world of spontaneity.

    4. Christian leadership teaches discipline.

One of the habits of a Christian leader is what we call quiet time.
We believe in doing things spontaneously, but great leaders will tell you their routine, and schedule, and also tell you things that they have disciplined themselves to be accustomed to.
A Christian leader is known for fasting, which is denying oneself food for a period.
These are acts of discipline that are only taught by Christian leadership.
A trained Christian leader can delay gratification.
A Christian leader prays regularly and practices given.
Here, Paul was telling his son, Timothy, to endure hardness, not a hardship.
They are things that make a man morally sound and fit for leadership positions.

Tho, therefore,e endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
    2 Timothy 2:3

In another part of the Bible, Christian leaders are described as athletes running a race.
Hardness is training. A Christian leader is seen as a soldier and you know the discipline a man goes through to become a soldier.
One of the most disciplined people on earth is an athlete.
Christianity is the breeding ground for influential leaders. Christianity builds all these virtues in us consciously and unconsciously.
Prominent leaders in America, Europe and Africa all came from the church and Christianity.
We should not be too busy in our career to be Christian leaders because it is in doing so that you can emerge as genuine leaders. Praise God!
We should stop here so you can download it for your students
Tell me, are you blessed tonight?

  • UNDERSTANDING RHEMA AND LOGOS

    UNDERSTANDING RHEMA AND LOGOS

When I was on campus, I used to hear people shouting RHEMA whenever a man of God said something deep from the word of God. But in no time I emulated this culture of shouting RHEMA whenever I want to appraise a man of God’s teachings even without knowing the meaning, but as time went by, I got to know that rhema is a Greek word that means the word of God. I will be opening your eyes to the full understanding of this word in the lines of this book.

Let’s go a bit theological, the word Rhema is a Greek word, spelled as ῥῆμα, transliterated as rhēma and pronounced as “rhray’-mah”. The word Rhema is found seventy (70) times in the New Testament. I will be bringing five of it to your attention for in-depth study before I tell you the definition of the word Rhema.

A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word (rhema) that Jesus had said to him, Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times. And when he thought about it, he wept.

    Mark 14:72

While Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word (rhema) of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

    Luke 3:2

Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The words (rhema) that I speak to you I do not speak on My authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

    John 14:10

Who will tell you words (rhema) by which you and all your household will be saved.

    Acts 11:14

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words (rhema) that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

    John 6:63

From the above bible passages above, you are going to see that the word of God used in this context is spoken or written specifically, they are the words God speaks out not to everyone, but to an individual. Yes! The word God has spoken to you is your own Rhema, it is meant for your dealings. They are the words the Lord has revealed to you, they’re the raw materials for your desired wonders, they serve as lamps to your feet and light to your path. They are the words that were sorted for whenever one is about to take crucial steps. Now, note this, every Rhema must be rooted in the logos which shall be explained next.

    2.LOGOS

To explain logos to you, I will like us to go theological as well. Logos is a Greek word, spelled as λόγος, transliterated as logos and pronounced as log’-os. The word Logos appears three hundred and thirty-one times (331) in the New Testament, but let me give you just five (5) instances of where it was used to explain what it is to you.

Therefore whoever hears these sayings (logos) of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

    Matthew 7:24

The sower sows the word (logos).

    Mark 4:14

So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word (logos) of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret.

    Luke 5: 1

That the saying (logos) of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.

    John 18:32

Then the word (logos) of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

    Acts 6:7

Critically, look at the contextual use of “word,” you will see that it was spoken or written generally to people, it was not meant for a particular person.

    HOW DO THEY RELATE?

Logos can be likened to a well, while Rhema can be likened to your bucket, it is the bucket that draws from the well. This means that all Rhema are drawn from the Logos, any Rhema that is not having the background of the logos should be discarded and disregarded.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

    2 Timothy 2:15

Paul was admonishing Timothy as I want to admonish you. He said Timothy should study the Logos because it is how studious he is in logos that God is going to examine, that will make God approve a Rhema word for him and remember, that the Rhema word is the raw materials for any wonders you desire.

  • “I will be going off Social Media”- Pst. Ife Adetona

“I will be going off Social Media”- Pst. Ife Adetona

Not be me, I dey here. Whenever I hear young people make this announcement, two things come to mind. If they announced it publicly, it is childish and it was an invitation to a “pity party”. They want you to ask “why”. On the other hand, whether they make it public or not, it sounds to me like, “help, I am depressed”.

I have had to speak with some people who are very close to me and the reason they usually state is: “I have an academic challenge, I want some focus”. ” I am depressed”, “I want to retreat and stay off my phone”, “God spoke to me to do so”.

If your world is built around the social media. If that is where you impart lives. If that is where you see your friends and sometimes peep upon your enemies. If that is where your neighbours are. Not mentioning the educational or spiritual energy you derive, if you go off social media, it could be the first stage of depression which is called “withdrawal”. If your reason is not because of some external rules either in a school or in the military, then you may have to check it very well.

If you think you’re growing addicted or excessive, put moderation in place. If it is affecting your social skills and interaction with the physical world, you need to look into moderation instead of a short term or long term withdrawal. There could also be a need to stay off some social media apps, especially the “gossip” apps. Yes, some apps directly affect us and some apps are just there for you to scroll up and down to know what is trendy and listen to every gossip. Those, you may stay away fully or limit the time spent on it.

For those who say: for retreat’s sake or that God asked them to do that. Think of yourself as a salt. Remember God’s word: if salt stays aloof, it is worthless but if it makes itself available to interact with other ingredients, it is indispensable. Think about it.

Before the advent of phones, people do say that they received words from God to isolate themselves for a short to a long period. They just go away from the reach of people. While we know God could say that to some people, most of those cases we heard of always end up that it was the devil. Huhmmm, if you study the history of some religions and cults, that was how they started. Some started with God and ended with jinns. Some just go off that way. Some vibrant brothers ended up weird as a result of these “staying off voice”.

If you think you’ve got such instruction, you may want to ask yourself the “salt question” seven times and check your spirit again and again.

As for great men of God who aren’t on social media. They are on social media, they only make it private. Secondly, many of them started their ministry before the advent of social media so, they didn’t build their ministry around it. If yours is built around it, imagine staying off as a pastor staying off his church to retreat.

  • SADOZ @ 8

    SADOZ @ 8

When I say that SADOZ does not rely on any mortal being dead or alive for its financial running from inception to date, I am not trying to boast. I am simply saying to my spiritual children in the ministry and mentees that a ministry can be fully God-sponsored.

    No debts
No side hustle as the president.
I resigned into the full time with zero naira as personal savings.
No rich parent or sibling as back-up
    No financier in sight.
    We were mostly students!
No penny or dime as foreign aid to date.
    No letter of help
    No sponsor!
No private visit to any mortal man to request sponsorship.

    List all the impossibilities.

When God showed me where we are going as a ministry, I said- this cannot be run from a man’s pocket, we’d better not start with it. Our future cannot be run from a man’s pocket, we better learn how to trust God now in our day of little beginning.

Yesterday, while observing a worship session the Lord spoke to us through prophecy. He said (paraphrased): “thank you, there are many that I have given this mandate but depended on man and so they failed but you have not relied on a man to sponsor it but GOD”.

Everything you see in SADOZ today and that you will always see is FULLY & SOLELY GOD FUNDED. We have a slogan here: ” if you miss, we will miss your face but we can never ever miss your face”. ALL ON GOD.

  • Lecture On DIVORCE

    Lecture On DIVORCE

Long before this topic came into the public domain, one of my spiritual daughters once asked me a question on divorce. She said something like, daddy, “what’s your take on divorce?”

NB: if you read this lecture to the end, I have a joke for you which I shared at the tail end.

Before the lecture commences, let me point out that, I could decide not to tell that inquisitive lady or even you about such a Biblical subject but you would get the answer some other way even though it could be the wrong one. So, it is my responsibility to teach you…right?

    To the lecture –

Many people will tell you that ADULTERY is the only condition for divorce. I wish to disappoint you by saying “adultery” is not even enough reason for divorce. The Bible teaches unconditional love and forgiveness. When Peter asked how many times should we forgive,¶ Jesus said 77×7. ¶The Bible says love shall cover the multitude of sins- isn’t it?

Meaning what? This means that adultery like every other sin is forgivable. You can’t argue that.

So, what is the implication of the word “fornication” set as a condition in the Bible context? ¶

Let’s explain the scripture in the light of another scripture.

    1 Corinthians 7:13&15
And if a Christian woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to continue living with her, she must not leave him.
15 But if the husband or wife who isn’t a believer insists on leaving, let them go. In such cases, the Christian husband or wife is no longer bound to the other, for God has called you to live in peace.

Here, Apostle Paul says if you have an “unbelieving” spouse who “wishes to stay” with you, let them remain. But if not, you are free.

Before I go further. The Bible didn’t say you can marry an unbeliever, it is if you both marry as unbelievers but you got converted and the other person is not yet saved. However, if you thought you marry a believer but it turned out otherwise, the Scripture covers you as well.

Jesus said it is not all that call me LORD that will see the Kingdom but only those that do the will of my Father. ¶The Scripture also says, show me you’re in faith by your deeds; faith without complementing works is dead. One of my daughters once said she had to ask herself, ” wait o, am I engaged to an unbeliever?” Show me your faith, through your works. ¶

The second condition in that passage is “wish to stay” with you. Okay, is it by saying “I don’t want to stay with you” or “I want to stay with you?” What if their attitudes show that they don’t even want you alive? I hope you get it now.

In short, if the situation is convincingly LIFE-THREATENING, they are not willing to stay with you. Or better put, they don’t want you to stay with them. Or we should say, they want you dead by their deeds. The Bible says God has called you to a life of peace and not bondage.

Now, let’s go back to the word adultery as used by Jesus. Adultery is life-threatening. Killer STDs are plenty. I have seen marriages and children devasted by HIV and STDs. These things are real. I have attended to a few HIV+ cases from 2013 to date. A doctor once said that if you visit the HIV counselling section in teaching hospitals, you will think everybody on earth is positive.

What’s my point? Leaving a marriage because of un-forgiveness is different from life-threatening situations. And many things could be life-threatening- adultery, battery (beating) and lots.

SO WHAT happens to a divorcee?

You see them as divorcees, God sees them as SINGLES because the old things have passed away by the reason of the works of Christ.

This is what God says about singles- He set the singles in families.
Psalms 68:6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

The Bible also says no single will lack a partner- Isaiah 34:16.

WHAT if someone just pack their things and left the marriage citing a flimsy excuse?

Many consequences come with taking the wrong steps or disregarding holy matrimony. We are not God to judge or punish the offenders but one thing is sure if a person commits a sin and repents, God forgives and the person becomes new. In short, the person becomes a SINGLE and fit for marriage. If you’re angry about that, raise your hand if you have never sinned.

CAN the person marry again to the person they left?

The next thing after leaving a marriage is not to walk into another but to heal and get led by the Spirit. God can take you back to the person or lead you forward. I have journeyed with at least a counsellee in such a situation. She got back with the man she left after two years. Anyone in this shoe should be patient and get God’s mind when making the next move.

    And here is the joke.
I asked my daughter her reason for asking about divorce. I love dealing with some sensitive questions before asking for the reason.

She said the Pastor in her former Church left his wife because according to him, God said she’s a witch. But he couldn’t re-marry because he believed the woman must die before he can take another wife. So, from time to time, he would gather some pastors and select people in the Church to pray that mama should die. In short, they are still separated, Baba is around 90 years now and mama is also very old but has refused to die.

    ¶Mathew 18:22, 1 Peter 4:8, Mathew 5:32, James 2:14-28

After publishing the last book (PRAYER ENERGIA) , I asked the Holy Spirit that which book are we writing next, but He was quiet. He didn’t say anything, but He came back to tell me to write about Discipleship when I was Counselling one of my Disciples.

The young man said he covets the grace of God over my life, and further asked “what are the secrets of your exploit in the Lord?”

After thinking for a few minutes, I told him the major factor responsible for that is my discipleship journey. Right there, I shared with him my personal discipleship story, from which he picked some lessons and was tremendously blessed.

Just as I was telling him my story, the Holy Spirit said to me expressly that my next book will be on Discipleship, which I heeded to and started working on it few days later.

    WHAT’S THE BOOK ALL ABOUT?

As a believer, your Spiritual life can never be in good shape if you’re not in a Discipleship relationship under a Discipler.

And perhaps you’re already in one discipleship relationship or you intend to initiate one soon, it is much more important to have a proper understanding of what to expect from it, as well as your own duties in such relationship. Some of the important things you’d get from this book include:

    1. An explicit explanation on the major reason why Discipleship was commanded by our Lord Jesus.

    2. The Duties of a Discipler to their disciples.

    3. The Duties of Disciples to their Disciplers.

    4. Discipleship story of some men of God and lessons to learn from there.

  • CHRISTMAS CONTROVERSY

    CHRISTMAS CONTROVERSY

    Timothy 1:4″

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do”

Should we celebrate Christmas? Merry Christmas to you! I can’t imagine believers and even Christian leaders causing a fuss over this matter. When we leave the core of Christianity and pursue the unnecessary doctrines, we tend to veer from the truth like some people who are now with the devil, fallen from grace.

If I celebrate Christmas, what effect does it have on my Christianity and if I don’t, what effect does it have on my faith? Nothing and absolutely nothing. Some laid claims that the Christmas celebration is idolatry and it was in memory of some Roman gods. I want to ask: when you hear Christmas, what comes to your mind —Jesus’ sacrifice or some unknown gods? Whatever comes to your mind is the reason and motivation behind your celebration. When you have a clear conscience, you are at peace with God. God doesn’t have issues with you celebrating Christmas or not, but you start having issues with your faith when you get distracted by such fables.

Some have also asked, “Do we need a special day to recognize Jesus birth?” I agree that we can celebrate and should celebrate Jesus every day of our lives but let me register it to you that Satan is having issues with Christmas celebration and that is why he is sponsoring so many arguments along the line. Forgetfulness, they say, is a blessing to the human race and we don’t forget things suddenly but gradually. It is the importance of a thing that first fades away before the event is entirely forgotten, thus the need for memorials to refresh our minds. God told the Israelite pilgrims en route Canaan land to keep objects and materials as reminders in teaching their unborn generations. This will make them reverence their God. I believe that is the wisdom behind museums today. Jesus also instructed us to keep the Holy Communion mainly as a memorial before other purposes.

Back to Christmas celebration, it is a period where the sacrifice of Jesus is refreshed upon our minds. It is our memorial. No matter how holy or spiritual you have been all the year, when it is Christmas, there is an aura that brings us more into the reality of our Saviour.

Let’s celebrate our Christmas, let it be a period to re-unite with family members, friends, relations and reach out to the unsaved and unbelieving neighbours as we go on to remember the precious sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

However, if you haven’t experienced salvation and you claim to celebrate Christmas, even if your name is Jeremiah, you have no portion in the everlasting life. You don’t get born again by birth or naturalization, you get saved by seeing a need and going for it. You can have it now.

Say this prayer, _”Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and personal Saviour today. I believe in your death and resurrection and sacrifice for my sins. I receive the grace to continue in my walk of faith in Jesus name.”_ Contact the source of this devotional for follow up. Thank you.

May the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you!
