Do you use to imagine things in your head? Like when you have the money you will buy a car, go back to your old school and show that teacher…blah, blah, blah.
Do you usually dream and imagine yourself doing superhuman things? Fighting people, disappearing and appearing, etc all in your dream while you sleep?
Fantasy is an enemy of spiritual vision and revelation. Spiritual vision and revelation are communicated through your mind. Devil fills our mind with fantasies to make it drooling, heavy and dull. It can’t pick visions and meaning quickly. You can’t ascend easily.
Have you fantasised about an uncle paying your school fees, do they?
This happens a lot to young ministers: you fantasized about preaching a powerful sermon in your head? Was the delivery not the opposite of your fantasy?
What to do? Control.
If you are fantasising about an event and you remember, “I shouldn’t be doing this, this event can never happen anyway”. Suppress and stop it. It will take time but your will is strong enough.
Instead of fantasising that this post, for instance, will gather many reactions and bless a lot of people, I will just speak it in the form of CDA or prayer or say ” God is taking all the glory over this post”. That way I resist the long fantasizing and the usual disappointment that comes after it.
What of dreams? Even in those dreams, you used to know that you were dreaming, right? But you usually enjoy the Spiderman moves. Wrestle yourself to wake!
Tell me what your revelation and vision as well as hearing from God is like after a month of conscious effort to stop this habit.
Where is the place of good imagination and dreaming big in your mind? Those will take care of themselves but take note- meaningful imagination is usually short while long fantasies used to seem like a madman talking to himself for a long time. He will even be blushing, giggling and smiling.
Like, if Theophilus Sunday just gave me a surprise on my wedding day like this…
If this is you and you can relate with all I shared here, oya gather here, let’s confess and receive grace to MOVE UP HIGHER IN THIS NEW YEAR.
