    GROWING IN FAITH 2 – Pst. Ife Adetona

    We started talking about why we must grow our faith
    From then, we discussed that faith is all round
    I emphasized that one may have faith in an area and not have faith in another area
    Then, we began talking about the ingredients of faith
    That is, those things that make faith faith
    You can also call them faith boosters!
    Every spiritual virtue starts with love
    If you don’t love God, you can’t grow in the faith that moves Mountain
    He says what eyes have not seen nor ears heard are things He has in store for them that love Him
    Who are God’s lovers, they are God’s servants
    Those who labour in His house
    1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him

    INGREDIENTS OF FAITH

    That being said, let’s examine the ingredients of faith from the standpoint of the father of Faith Abraham
    What are those things He exemplifies that show FAITH
    or that makes up His faith life
    If you can get it then you can be mighty in faith as well
    Let’s draw it fromROMANS 14:17-22
    17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. note 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
    The first ingredient of faith we will be picking from the life of Abraham is The Word of God.

    1. THE WORD OF GOD

    V17 reads:As it is written I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
    As it is written implies the word of God.That’s the place to start in building up your faith in all areas of life.
    Romans 10:17 says so then faith cometh by hearing and
    hearing by the word of God.To build faith in all areas, go for the word,verse 8 says but what saith it, the Word is near thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart that is the word of faith, which we preach.Do you need faith for academic success? Then go get the word, look for the scriptural references that guarantee academic success!
    Do you need marital success? Go for the word that talks about marital success!Do you need healing? Go for the word. That was how I built my faith.
    The Bible says “The just shall live by his Faith“
    I have preached several messages in different areas that you can search for and listen to.
    You can also search for biblical references on Google.Just type: scriptural passages on academic success or any other areas you may need help with.
    Before faith for healing got into my system, I tell you, I was reciting and chewing the healing scriptures wherever I go, even while walking on the street.
    I meditated on it and absorbed it into my bones and marrows.
    Even when I slept at night, I usually recite those scriptures from my sleep.
    The same thing goes for every area of my life. Up till date, I meditate and ponder on the word of God which talks about certain areas of my personal life, family and ministry.
    I am still in search of new words and scripture references that can make me stand more firm.
    Don’t go for one, two or three, don’t relax until you have up to 20 scriptural references that can build up your faith in that area.
    The Bible says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
    The more you hear and hear, the more you read and read, and the more your faith increases!
    It is simple
    Your faith must anchor on the word
    If you want faith in this AREA of your life, go for what the word says about out it.
    Then begin to meditate on it
    Then you will have success in that area
    When you are done with that, move to another area of your life
    For instance, It is medication in the word of healing that produces healing faith
    This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have success – Joshua 1:8.
    Who’s going to do that tonight?
    Who is going to search for the word of faith in a certain area of his life?

    2. HOPE

    The second ingredient of faith is hope
    The faith of father Abraham (who is our case study) was not vague or existed in a vacuum but it was based on what God said to Him, which is the word of God.
    THE BIBLE SAYS:
    He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God – vs 20.The Bible essentially says: faith is the substance of things hoped, evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1.
    Hope is the bridge between the word and faith.
    Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things HOPED for.What do we hope for? The fulfilment of the word (the promise of God to you)!
    The word is what we are hoping for and that means it is hoped that gives the expectations.
    Hope gives our heart laxation into something only faith can gain.
    Hope awaits or expects longingly because it is so convinced of its existence and faith receives the promise.
    When a man loses hope, he should forget about faith
    Hope tells you THE PROMISE IS POSSIBLE, IT IS IN EXISTENCE.Then, faith gets it.
    Let’s see how Abraham practised hope in his case:
    Romans 4:18 says, “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken”.NLT says: “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping believing that he would become the father of many nations. When there was no reason for the hope he kept hoping, looking unto God”.Hope is looking unto God.Verse 19 says: Abrahams’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead and so was Sarah’s womb.He knew that looking at his environment would not help but, he kept his gaze on God.
    Hope is looking unto God, checking God out, weighing God and putting God on a balance to see if He can’t see in His word.Hope is placing the promise maker side by side with his promise.
    Hope is when the promisee weighs the promise against the promise to see if he can do what he has promised.
    Hope is seeing God as “being able to do it.Is God able to do that thing? In that area of your pressing need, is He able and capable?
    Then don’t just look at your environment or the prevailing circumstances, only look at God.
    Hope is checking God out to see if He can do what you expect as He has promised in His word.
    I promised to give out 35 of my books for free.Did you have doubts?
    Did you have hope that I will do it?
    What if I promised you a public holiday tomorrow, will you have hope in me?
    Why not?
    You knew I didn’t have the power
    Now…does God have the power to give You what you see Him promised in His word?
    Hope magnifies God more than the situation.Hope makes you relax because God can do more than you are requesting.

    I baptize you into the spirit of hope and faith in Jesus’ name.

    3.EXPECTATION

    Hope gives an expectation and the Bible says: the expectations shall not be cut off.
    Pro 23:18 For surely there is an end, and thine expectation shall not be cut off
    The mistake people make is that they focus more on the EXPECTED WAY instead of the expected end
    Jeremiah 29:11, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.You wanted to do your wedding for instance.
    You have faith that you have abundance. Right?
    Your hope for abundance is in God!
    Your expected end is that you have a debt-free and glorious wedding.
    But in your head, you have thought that Uncle A will give you 50.Aunty B will do a cake for you for free
    Since Bro. C is a fashion designer and he has once asked if you would like a particular suit…you feel he would make one for you for free
    On the wedding day, all of them didn’t give you those things. You felt disappointed
    Now…
    Your faith was not in God but in man
    Your hope was not in God but in man
    You have told God the method He should use and since He can’t be limited, He refused to take the place
    Except he’s leading you to those people…and even when He does your expectation should be in His word
    How many have thought of an uncle giving them some money? Did he give you one?
    You were thinking XXX will buy you so n so on your birthday, did he?
    Now, did God eventually come through for you at that time or not
    Let your EXPECTATION be in the “expected end” not the expected way

    4. TRUST

    Another faith booster or ingredient of faith is trust!That is, having trust in God that it is done.
    The Bible says “thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee”- Isaiah 26:3.
    Trust shows that your mind is on God and not on the result.
    What do I mean?
    Do you have the same mood when you see an alert and when you don’t have a dime in your account?
    A man of trust will have the same mood;
    Why, because has three confidence that it is settled
    If Dangote promises money to some people, they can even do thanksgiving ahead in the church but if God assures some people of wealth, their mood will be scattered!
    And that is why many people don’t pay this tithe
    I think that those who miss their tithes will have a big TRUST issue with God
    The Scripture says He will keep in perfect peace those that trust in Him.
    It is those that trust Him even when they have not seen any trace of an answer.
    It was trust that made Sarah permit sexual intercourse with her husband at that age to conceive a child.
    It was trust that made Abraham take the same Isaac to the slaughter with a clear assurance that God would raise him from the dead.
    It was trust that made Jesus die on the cross with the assurance that the Father would raise Him again.
    Can you trust God to that extent? Trust is a vital ingredient to our faith.
    Receive grace to trust in Jesus’ Name

    This evening a voice whispered to me-
    “You want your daughter to get a sound education, how will you do it seeing that you’re a full-time minister”
    My reply is FAITH
    FAITH brought me here, FAITH will keep me going…faith is enough for me
    Some 8 years ago, I was down with malaria typhoid
    I had been using CDA for days with no effect
    At a point, I told God, let’s just go get malaria drugs and I will be fine.
    Holy Spirit replied to me by saying: “yes, you can get the drugs and you will be fine but you will need your faith on bigger things tomorrow and so, I suggest you allow it to grow”
    I decided to allow my faith to grow through that tough time
    I was divinely healed
    Faith gave me a wife
    Faith sponsored my wedding
    Faith prospered me in the ministry
    That’s why I named my first daughter FAITH
    See, YOU NEED FAITH FOR EVERYTHING
    The Bible says THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY HIS FAITH.

    Rom 1:17 The just shall live by faith

    I have not fallen sick or taken drugs for treatment in 8years all by faith
    Faith is the only rescue of this dire economy
    Heaven’s economy is not dollar-denominated, it is faith-denominated.And it has the highest value when exchanged for any currency on the earth

    Believers are simply called FAITH-TERS
    I say faith is breathing
    To remind a believer to have faith is like telling a fish to swim or telling a man to breathe
    Man won’t survive without breathing
    No wonder we have many lifeless believers today
    The Bible even say, “without faith, no man can please God”.
    You can’t satisfy Him
    You can’t love Him without faith
    Heb 11:6 But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    Tonight, your faith will receive a leap in Jesus’ Name

    WHY MUST I GROW MY FAITH

    1. You can’t afford to remain a babe

    What does that mean?
    Have you seen someone that said: when I was a new convert, God answered my prayer quickly but these days, it doesn’t happen fast?
    Some don’t even get answers at all
    Have you seen someone that said a new member got answers faster than he or she?
    I will explain why it is so
    When a Baby is at the back of his mother, he will naturally walk faster
    But when a toddler began to walk on his own, he will walk slower
    Soonest, if the toddler grows to become a youth, he would be able to walk and even outrun the woman
    The reason you get answers easily at first is that the faith of your pastor or mentor works for you as a baby in Christ
    But now, you are expected to have been standing on your own and you are not.

    But their faith no longer works for you as it used to

    2. The anointing will not always be available.

    The anointing will override faith in some instances. It won’t matter even if you have a little faith. Once they pray on you, you get answers
    But when you begin to notice that no matter how the uch pastor prays on that your headache, it didn’t go
    Then, the problem is not with the pastor’s anointing but it wasn’t just made available
    Then, the problem is not with the pastor’s anointing but it wasn’t just made available for you
    You are expected to get healed by your faith
    You see many pastors pray for the sick and the sick get healed and they have not healed themselves or their children are sick at home
    The answer is simple
    The anointing was made available for them to heal the people
    But they need faith to heal themselves,
    The Bible says the JUST SHALL LIVE BY HIS FAITH

    3. FAITH IS LIKE WAEC, YOU CAN’T SUM THE GRADE

    Let me explain,
    If you score 80 in Mathematics and 25 in English, you can’t interchange the grade or tell them to deduct from the 80 and add to the 25
    This is what I mean…
    You need faith in different areas of your life and you must develop each of it
    There is faith in HEALING THE SICK.

    There is faith in PROSPERITY

    There is faith in ACADEMIC SUCCESS
    That’s why you can see a highly anointed monster of God who heals the sick and do miracles but is VERY POOR
    He has faith to heal but does not score very low in faith for prosperity
    There are people like that in the Bible too
    Job had faith for prosperity and even faith for Holiness but have F9 in faith for DIVINE PROTECTION
    All he had when it come to divine security was fear!
    For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of comes unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came – Job 3:25-26
    The man called Lazarus had faith in HOLINESS & ETERNAL SECURITY but lacked faith in PROSPERITY
    But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented – Luke 16:25
    Father Abraham on the other hand, had an ALL-ROUND FAITH. He had faith in HOLINESS, ETERNAL SALVATION and PROSPERITY
    I think I love that one
    I don’t know about you
    Martha told Jesus-

    If you were here, I know my brother wouldn’t have died but now that he is dead, nothing could be done
    Martha had faith in healing but didn’t have faith in the raising of the dead
    Grace for an ALL-ROUND Faith is released tonight in Jesus’ Name
    How many people want to learn how to build an all aroundddddddd faith?

    If you are to eat beans, how many things will go into it?
    You won’t just be eating the beans but many other things like….can we mention them?
    That is the way faith is.

    To grow your faith, you need to develop some virtues. It is those virtues that make faith, faith
    1. LOVE
    The fruit of the spirit is LOVE. It is inside Love that you see FAITH

    Gal. 5:22
    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

    I want you to know that love is primary; everything in the Spirit realm works by love.
    Love is the first and second commandment given to the New Testament saints.We must have love towards God and love towards men.
    A heart that loves God is such with no offence to God, you don’t quarrel with God, and you don’t say God has hurt you because something bad happened to you.
    Some would even say God is the source of their predicament.
    You have to stop the bitterness. Faith starts from love.
    Let’s talk about other ingredients in the next meeting
    Can you pray for a second
    Say- “LORD, I want to grow my faith, help me”.

    FIVE-FOLD OFFICES – Pst. Ife Adetona

    There are three kinds of Apostles: Apostles of the Lamb (the 12), Foundational or News Testament Apostles (Paul & Others) and then, the Modern Day Apostles.

    Before now, Apostles are generally explained as those who plant churches but the understanding has gone far beyond that. It is not that God’s plan changed but our understanding improves as times & seasons unfold God’s definition.

    An Apostle is a massive Church planter across different territories.
    Or- an apostle is a pioneer and groundbreaker of a particular territory.
    Or- an apostle revives a particular doctrine in the body of Christ.
    Or- an apostle ushers a generation into a move or dimension of the Spirit.

    A person who combines the Prophet office and the Teacher office is an apostle. That is because he is likely to revive a particular Biblical doctrine(s) or truth or move.

    PROPHET
    There are also TWO KINDS of Prophets. Foundational or News Testament Prophets or Modern Day Prophets. A prophet is usually a preacher with the regular manifestation of five to six prophetic gifts (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues & prophecy). The degree would be quite high in at least one of those gifts and manifest adequately in others. Some prophets try to teach, they try to reignite a doctrine and also try to establish new doctrines. These prophets usually commit massive blunders while trying to do so. Meanwhile, they can desire the teaching gift but they need to be humble to learn how it is done. Prophets usually have healings and they are more evangelistic than pastoral.

    PASTOR
    “A Pastor has an organized Church”. Sorry, I mean we used to think all Pastors must have an organized denominational church. It is not so. A pastor is a shepherd with sheep in an organized setting (denominational or non-denominational). A pastor preaches or teaches. A pastor tenders, nurses and watches individuals NOT a building or chairs.

    EVANGELIST
    If you break new grounds, if you have massive signs and wonders including healing and miracles EVEN if you see Jesus but if you do not have an organised membership (pastoral service), you are not an apostle, you are an evangelist. You are a great man of God and not the least of all. Evangelists are also less prophetic. Many evangelists exhort or preach and some (a few) teach.

    TEACHER
    Actually, a minister of God either preaches or teaches. But God raises people in the office of a Teacher to teach concrete Biblical knowledge and doctrines. They have both pastoral and evangelistic tendencies because they win souls and groom those souls. This differentiates them from teachers in the help ministry.

    HELP MINISTRY
    If you sing, you’re not an evangelist. If you act drama, you are not an evangelist EXCEPT if you are an evangelist that sings or an evangelist that acts drama. Else, you are in the help ministry.

    Note, I am not explaining or criticizing titles, I am only explaining offices. In heaven, many ministers will come forward to receive the reward of planting a Church but a woman in the help ministry of prayer who birth the Church on her knees will be called forward. The Help Ministry is big and recognised. God can call men into it as full-time or part-time. For further study, I have three free books in circulation on this.

    NOTE
    You will only grow into the full realization of your calling. You can’t get there the day you stepped into the ministry. Also, title does not necessarily promote, growth does.

    Many will not grow into even the first phase of their ministry and calling till they die. So, we must take heed to ensure that we fulfil our ministry.

    Let me remind you that, if you are called into the ministry, the journey has not begun until you answer FULL TIME.

    I thank God for saving the life of his servant with his family, Apostle Suleiman. Condolences for the loss of his aides. May God replenish the loss of the bereaved family. May God also grant the apostle and his family quick healing from the trauma.

    Talking about the bulletproof car which has since become a centre of debate. I have seen people as usual say all sorts such as “it wasn’t anointing oil that saved him, it was bulletproof”. That’s like saying: “it wasn’t God that saved him but the car”. If thieves attempted breaking into their father’s house and after several attempts, even when the door was almost giving in, they were overpowered, those naysayers will go to church and say: “it wasn’t God that secured our parents, it was the iron door”.

    The law of Divine Security says: “do your best and leave the rest”. Do your best, leave the rest for God but be at peace.
    While I live in a house with a gate, I shut the gates at night, God keeps me.
    When I was living in a gateless house, I shut the door to my room and God kept me.
    When I was living in a house without a gate and without door, I drew my curtain at night and slept peaceably because the Lord was watching over me.

    There’s a place for wisdom, there is a place of divine security.
    Except the Lord keeps the city, the watchmen keep vigil in vain but note: there were still watchmen keeping vigils.

    Dear Youth,
    Life will not always give you the luxury of time to pursue your purpose. Today, you’re all over seminars and lectures, trying to discover your purpose but how much energy are you putting into fulfilling it? You thought you have all the time?

    I know you wish to marry early too but do you know that the earlier you get married, the harder it is to pursue your purpose if you are not already grounded in it?

    A time is coming, coming fast, what matters won’t be the purpose but how you can make money and put food on the table- be it a man or woman.

    What I am saying is that, if you don’t give it all to your purpose now, you may not be able to go after it later on. Look around you, aside from full-time ministers, aside from those in the medical field, how many people are in their purpose? They hope to do it later.

    Mind you, that you’re a minister does not make it automatic and that’s why you see many people in the part-time! The fear of total dependency on God and suffering forces many who are meant for full-time to stay at the crossroad.

    When I asked some people their age, I hear- am just 30! Just 30? Do you think that I am 40? Or do you think I am 35? Just assume that the only time you have to fulfil your purpose is between now and when you’re 30.

    Do you know you can serve Holy Communion to yourself or to your family as the priest that you are?

    Smith Wigglesworth revealed that the secret to his long life and sound health is taking communion every day at their dining table.

    Do you think Jesus ordered a different or special food for communion? No. He took a part out of their supper (Passover meal) and separated that portion as communion. You can separate a portion of your meal and do the same.

    Mathew 26:26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “

    The problem is that we limit communion to “remembrance”. What if we see it as a healing substance or the life of Christ in a man? A lot of people got their healing via communion in our meetings. Many received sound health and some others got strength over addictions.

    Happy Birthday Nigeria! Today is the independence day of Nigeria. The independence of the most populous black nation in 1960 was a breakthrough for the whole African continent. It was a victory that earned victories for other nations, including an end to apartheid in South Africa.

    Since the emergence of self-rule, Nigeria has been subjected to several forms of torture that made it look better in the hands of the colonial masters. It has suffered exploitation in the hands of foreigners and rape from its own people. Nigeria has never had stable electricity all these years neither has the oil producing nation successfully run its own refinery. The nation cannot boast of dominion in the export of any goods to the world in spite of its richness in many resources. Despite its self-acclaimed military prowess and leadership, insecurity has always been a household name making a victim of all its citizens. Christians have suffered greatly from targeted terrorism attack by islamist terrorist organizations such as ISWAP, Boko Haram and extremists that slaughter Christian believers with their mouths and knives all in the name of blasphemy. Of all the problems that has plagued this amalgamated country, the root is said to be corruption and leadership failure.

    That means, the problem of Nigeria like many other African and third world nations is like a tree with many branches and just one stem. That singular stem or root is “leadership problem”. Any country that runs a democracy with a regular periodic election has the best human government system available but when the election process is under sabotage, it will only be a cycle of oppression and exploitation. Today, what Nigeria and some other African nations need is electoral reform. A system where votes duly and fully count. A system where electoral tribunals has no job to do after the elections. A system where the electorates become the umpire of the governance. A system where politicians seek the vote of the populace and not the favour of the godfathers. Nigerians and other African nations should arise and call for a reformed electoral process now even as we face another election year. God bless Nigeria, God bless Africa and God bless the whole world.

    To God be the glory of all things He has done. I can’t but appreciate Him for teaching my hands to war and my fingers to fight in writing this book.

    The book is having six [6] chapters:

    CHAPTER 1: THE NEED FOR WONDERS.

    As the scripture says that without signs and wonders, people won’t believe. This chapter emphasizes why believers should be wonder commanders which is to aid the gospel.

    It also explained how the wonderful act of God performed by the patriarch in the Bible brought so many people to the kingdom of God!

    CHAPTER 2: UNDERSTANDING THE WORD.

    This chapter explained the different dimensions of the word of God we have.
    It also demystifies the difference between Rhema and Logos.

    CHAPTER 3: WONDERS OF TONGUES.

    The urgent need for every believer after giving their lives to Christ is to be initiated into the world of the supernatural, and speaking in tongues is the entrance to this world.

    This chapter explained how it’s the initial evidence of Holy Ghost baptism and how it can be accessed by anyone that desires it.

    CHAPTER 4: WONDERS OF HEALING.

    The greatest need of every man to live a meaningful life is to be free from sickness.
    Sickness is the younger brother of death, but it is a gift to all believers to be free from sickness and not only to heal the sick.

    This chapter will show you how you can heal the sick, and bring the sick world to the knowledge of Christ!

    CHAPTER 5: WONDERS OF PROSPERITY.

    The Bible says: through prosperity shall the kingdom of God be spread abroad.
    The devil is trying to bring so many people to his kingdom through money.
    To always command finance at every point in time according to the kingdom pattern, you have to follow God’s terms and conditions, everything was explained in this chapter.

    CHAPTER 6: TAKING THE ROD.

    This chapter will open your eyes to how you can always use the word of God to command the desired result in your life.

    Let’s talk about HAIRCUTS & DRESSING

    Our View on Dressing.

    Many people have asked, why does MotherTreasure dress the way she dresses. People haven’t asked me why I cut my hair the way I do but I have been asked if having a different haircut is wrong.

    We believe in what is called the law of RIPPLE DOWN EFFECT and this is why we will continue to dress the way we dress and pass it down to followers who choose to without in any way discriminating against those who do not.

    Firstly, let me say that YOUR HAIRCUT WILL NOT TAKE YOU TO HELL. Likewise will your choice of DRESSING take you to hell as far as you didn’t intend to be lustful or seductive because God knows the intent of the heart? Where the problem lies is that your choice of dressing and haircut can lead you into what can lead you to hell. This is where the law of ripple down effect comes in. I will explain shortly.

    Your haircut and dressing have a lot to do with your ASSOCIATION and your association contributes to your lifestyle. Psychologists agree with this. They even believe that the kind of car you use is related to your character & lifestyle. And so there are characters, lifestyles and influences that are peculiar to a style of dressing.

    If a boy with a certain haircut enters a campus as a fresher and needs description to a certain point in the school, he is likely to ask another boy with a similar haircut. If there are four boys in a hostel, the ones with a similar haircut are likely to get along quickly. In a space of time, boys and girls who were freshers would quickly make friends with those who dress just the way they do. Note: there are exceptions.

    To these dressings come vices. How do I mean? Certain characters come with the way you dress. If you see “five SU dressed” gather, you can comfortably say that there will be a vice of gossip among them (for example). And where “non-SU dressed gathers”, you can tell the kind of vices among them.

    I was travelling in the North at a time. Soldiers did stop and search. I didn’t dress like a Pastor but I was the only male they did not search. I have had such encounters a couple of times. There was a time Police searched only one boy and drugs were found on him. How they singled him out, I don’t know but it tells a lot about how he appeared. The appearance will always show the manner.

    If dressing has a lot to do with association and association has to do with lifestyle and lifestyle has a lot to do with godliness & ungodliness then, we ministers have a role to play. That is what the ripple down effect means.

    In my few years of pilgrimage, I have seen a lot of believers descend morally via this route. We thought the only thing that changed about them was the hair and look but it wasn’t long before we discovered that their new association plunged their lifestyle and morals as well. I know a boy who never disobeyed his parents until he changed his haircut. I have also seen newly born again ascend by first changing the way they dress. They were able to cut out their old friends and lifestyle more easily after changing their dress style.

    However, this thing is not automatic. That a brother or sister chooses to appear in a way doesn’t mean he would automatically get along with the influence that follows but they are surely more at risk. And as ministers, we believe we are examples, aren’t we? We have the babies to secure, we have the carnal believers to help and those that think they stand also need to take heed. We are examples unto them all. If we raise the standard, they can come higher, if we lower it, they will go lower. The ripple down effect of our choice goes beyond our disciples or followers in Christ but even down to our biological children.
