Understanding the Book of Roman 5

So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 5:21 NLT)

Adam brought sin and sin brought death. Jesus brought salvation and salvation brought life, not just any life but eternal life because the death that sin brought was also eternal death. So, the life that Christ brought will not be adequate if all it contains is life in this world and no eternal life in the thereafter.

This eternal life is a multidimensional provision with underlining demands from us. There is no gift of God to man that comes without placing a demand on man. Even an automatic car will not drive itself. The Bible says Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. Abraham did something. Though very little but he did something. If am feeling hot and there is an AC in the room. My duty is to put it on. The AC was provided by someone but I am required to do something to enjoy it.

Eternal life is not just about eternity in heaven. It encapsulates so many privileges. I can decide to emphasize any part of it in my messages. That part that Paul emphasized in Romans is right standing with God. The privilege for all to call God Father be it a Jew or a Gentile.

Among the provisions to enjoy in eternal salvation is divine health. Let me ask, are all Christians living in divine health? In eternal salvation, there is victory over sin. Are all believers living victoriously over sin? In eternal salvation, there is prosperity. Are all believers prosperous? In eternal salvation, there is assurance not to die any kind of death or die suddenly or in an accident. Are all believers dying peacefully at a good old age? Holy Ghost Baptism is also part of this eternal life. Do all believers speak in tongues? In eternal salvation, is the assurance of making heaven but to think all believers will make heaven is delusional and erroneous. It is like thinking your phone will charge by itself because a charger and electricity had already been provided. God already done His part, we are expected to do our part.
There are demands placed on us order to enjoy each of the provision contained in eternal life.
The demand to eternity with Christ in heaven is the pursuit of holy living, without which, no man shall see the Lord.
