It is important that you understand yourself or you call it the concept of prime time, this is the time in which you are most active, it is the time when you are always energized to perform some certain tasks. I have been opportune to counsel some people about their prayer lives. And very often, they come up with complaints such as; they sleep off whenever they are set to pray, some would even say they don’t know why their prayer life is under attack, and claim that the devil is after them. One time, I was counseling someone and he said: “my day time is meant for praying normal prayer while my night time is meant for warfare prayer, and because I’m waging war against the devil, he attacked my prayer life as a means of fighting back.” I was so amazed and guess what? As we continued further in our discourse, I discovered that he is a farmer who works rigorously in the day. Then I was prompted to ask him who told him day time is meant for normal prayer and night time is meant for warfare prayer, I even found myself asking him whether there is a difference between normal prayer and warfare prayer. I told him to kindly cite an example of a normal prayer, but he could not give me a sound explanation. Likewise, so many people have been under the shackles of this mentality that if they cannot pray in the night between 12 am to 3bam every day, they have not prayed yet, or their prayer life is not fire branded. Even if they have time in the day, they will not pray because they have been held bound by that mentality that it is at night God answers prayer. This is a capital NO!
It will surprise you to know that the number of times Jesus prayed all night inside the Bible was just twice. Although it may seem more than that because it appeared throughout the Gospels. Meanwhile, I will like you to bear in mind that I am not talking against praying at night. In fact, I pray twice in the midnight in a week and I’ll encourage you to buy the idea because you have been given the ability to do so. But what I am emphasizing on is the fact that “You should not allow condemnation or Guilt” to set in. Don’t think that if you do not pray in the night, the prayer you pray during the day is not effective, do not see yourself as someone who is bad or lazy. lt is God Himself that does not sleep, Psalm 121:4 rightly affirms that. It says “they that keepeth you never sleep nor slumber.”
Can you keep yourself? Or do you think it is the prayer you offer in the night time that is keeping you? If it is, then it is synonymous to you not sleeping at all, all the days of your life. You might be thinking about where Jesus says “while men slept,” Jesus was talking in parable at that time and Jesus wasn’t addressing that we shouldn’t sleep, in fact the Bible records it that Jesus (Himself) slept at night.
WHAT TO DO.
Mark 1:35;
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
The prime time is the time which you are having much capacity to pray, and you must understand yourself in doing that. For some people, they may find it easy to pray without dozing around 4 am to 5 am, or 4 am to 6am, but such may find it difficult to pray around 12 am to 1am, they may sleep off and not be active.
This is a principle practiced by Jesus during the day. He would go around to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed, travel from one region to another region, but during the night time, he sleeps. Meanwhile, this does not mean He did not understand that He needs to pray, but He would sleep so as to conserve energy to pray before day break and that’s usually around 4 am in the morning, and by doing so, He tried praying by the time. He only rests for the day, because he would not be active.
INTRIGUE OF THE SPIRIT.
Do not forget that we have addressed the switching by the Spirit which leads to unstructured prayer. And when this occur in the middle of the night, or when you are about to rest in bed, the extra energy to pray will be made available, you can partner with the Holy Spirit to maximize that moment. For you to have an effective prayer life, you must understand yourself and understand the concept of prime time.
ACTION:
Sit down and think about your prayer life (time.) Are you always active during those times? If yes, congratulations! If no, think of a better time you can fix which will be of immense help to you personally.
