So now, we are debating if AI will take the job of the Holy Spirit. As in, if a teaching aid will take the job of the Teacher. Any pastor whose “AI” takes the place of the Holy Spirit in his life never works with the Holy Spirit to start with.
Before the advent of AI, seasoned teachers uses GOOGLE, Bible Commentaries, Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, concordance, and even English Dictionary (and the Encyclopedia, maps) etc. I use all of these tools steadily. They are all aids and very useful. AI or chatgpt for me is an advanced google as far as sermon preparation is concerned. Pastors should not be discouraged from deploying it to further their effectiveness.
Could there be an abuse? What kind of abuse? The worst that can happen is for, a pastor to ask Chatgpt to generate a sermon for him with Bible references and go ahead to preach it in his service. Is that a bad thing? Depending on how you see it.
A pastor could do that, just to get tips, make some embellishments, additions and subtractions and deliver a powerful, Holy Ghost-inspired message from it. Another lazy pastor may not bother to do all that and just go ahead to preach what the AI generated and his members would be BETTER OFF BLESSED than when he wasn’t using chatgpt. Do you know why? For him to use chatgpt for his full message shows that he wasn’t even much of a blessing to his members beforehand. I would wish that all those “current affairs” pastors read from chatgpt than saying: “owo epo ti won”, (the price of fuel is high) or dollar ti won (the exchange rate is high).
The question is, where does Chatgpt get its answers from? Simple answer: where does Google get its answers from? Google goes to files uploaded on the internet sorting from the most popular to the least popular using SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Chatgpt uses the same files uploaded by seasoned and Holy Ghost-filled ministers but this time sorting from the “most accurate”.
This is not about me. I am not going to ask Chatgpt to generate a sermon for me. I can preach 100 messages across different topics IMPROMPTU just from my archives. I have over 60 books in circulation long before the advent of chatgpt. If the only thing I do for the next one year is to turn my archives teachings into books, I won’t exhaust it even after writing another 60 books. I don’t even need any additional resources. Just my archives!
Back to IF CHATGPT would take the work of the Holy Spirit. I see it as a PLUS than a threat. From my interaction with it SO FAR, even if a lazy pastor demonstrates utmost recklessness and relies 100% on it, he may be at the losing end but his members would be better off. Now, imagine how much it will be of help to a pastor who is efficient and just uses it as a tool.
My point: EXPLORE AI to its fullest potential for your career and personal development, it is a blessing from God.
“Oh, Pastor Ife, I can take everything you said but don’t say it is a blessing from God”. Sorry o, is your mobile phone a curse because some people are using it for scams?

It’s not a course but in another dimension those who abuse it, stands to be coursed already
