If you have to do crowd-funding or fundraising for a project in your ministry, believe me, YOU DON’T NEED THAT THING.
Pastor Ife, break it down.
If You want to buy a gadget or construct a temple for instance and you have to share the ministry’s or personal account details all over social media for people to donate THEN YOUR MINISTRY DOES NOT NEED THAT STRUCTURE. You can put such information out on the ministry’s website, handles, programme, and forum but when it becomes what you share to your personal status or handle and members even broadcast it on their status, it means your MINISTRY DOES NOT HAVE the financial capacity for that thing and so, you retorted to public fundraising. It is either God never sent you or you don’t need that thing or you have failed to build your ministry’s financial capacity.
Why will you want to do a village crusade and be raising funds in the public, who send you? What about HOUSE TO HOUSE evangelism in that village?Ministry is way different from charity.
That some people do it does not make it right.
And that you are able to gather money doesn’t mean the finger of God is in it.
The end will eventually justify the means.
No matter who does a wrong thing, it doesn’t make it right. It is no different from sharing envelopes with members for donation. It is no different from the Almajiri boys that carry plates around for money to build their temples. The evil part is that nothing much comes from these things. And it cannot last you for long.
Besides the fact that it is unethical, it also does not make economic sense to get what you cannot afford at all costs.I know a church who took a loan to perfect their structure. In all indication, that ministry did not need that large seater capacity. They can build something portable and beautiful with what they have.
I am saying this because of my children in the faith who are pastors. I see you beg for different funny things. If you don’t have a carpet at your meeting place, it’s because you don’t need it.I know people get loans from banks to buy things for their church. They will be rattled when they get to heaven and God tells them: WHO SEND YOU?
You may want to ask if it is wrong to give towards such things- when a ministry sort funds from the public. The method may be wrong, your giving is not wrong.
